اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الَّذِي اسْتَجَبْتَ لآدَمَ وَحَوَّاءَ إِذْ قالا: رَبَّنا ظَلَمْنا أَنْفُسَنا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنا وَتَرْحَمْنا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الخاسِرِينَ،
وَناداكَ نُوحٌ فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُ وَنَجَّيْتَهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الكَرْبِ العَظِيمِ،
And when Noah cried to You, You answered him and delivered him and his family from the great calamity.
وَأَطْفَأْتَ نارَ نَمْرودَ عَنْ خَلِيلِكَ إِبْراهِيمَ فَجَعَلْتَها بَرْداً وَسَلاماً،
And it is You who extinguished the fire of Nimrod for Your intimate friend Abraham and thus changed it into coldness and peace.
وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي اسْتَجَبْتَ لأيُّوبَ إِذْ نادى: مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ فَكَشَفْتَ ما بِهِ مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَآتَيْتَهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَذِكْرى لأُولِي الاَلْبابِ،
وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي اسْتَجَبْتَ لِذِي النُّونِ حِينَ ناداكَ فِي الظُّلُماتِ أَنْ لا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ فَنَجَّيْتَهُ مِنَ الغَمِّ،
وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي اسْتَجَبْتَ لِمُوسى وَهارُونَ دَعْوَتَهُما حِينَ قُلْتَ: قَدْ أُجِيبَتْ دَعْوَتُكُما فَاسْتَقِيما،
وَأَغْرَقْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمَهُ،
You thus drowned Pharaoh and his people.
وَغَفَرْتَ لِداوُدَ ذَنْبَهُ وَتُبْتَ عَلَيْهِ رَحْمَةً مِنْكَ وَذِكْرى،
وَفَدَيْتَ إِسْماعِيلَ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ بَعْدَ ما أَسْلَمَ وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ فَنادَيْتَهُ بِالفَرَجِ وَالرَّوحِ،
You ransomed Ishmael with a momentous sacrifice after he had submitted his will and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead for sacrifice. Hence, You called him with relief and comfort.
وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي ناداكَ زَكَريا نِداءً خَفيا فَقالَ: ربِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ العَظْمُ مِنِّي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْباً وَلَمْ أَكُنْ بِدُعائِكَ رَبِّي شَقيا،
وَقُلْتَ: يَدْعُونَنا رَغَباً وَرَهَباً وَكانُوا لِنا خاشِعِينَ،
وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي اسْتَجَبْتَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحاتِ لِتَزِيدَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ،
And it is You Who responded to those who had believed and done good deeds so as to increase Your favor upon them.
فَلا تَجْعَلْنِي مِنْ أَهْوَنِ الدَّاعِينَ لَكَ وَالرَّاغِبِينَ إِلَيْكَ وَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَما اسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُمْ بِحَقِّهِمْ عَلَيْكَ،
So, (please) do not consider me the most debased suppliant and desirous to You. And respond to me in the same way as You responded to them, (I beseech to You) by their right (that is incumbent) on You.
فَطَهِّرْنِي بِتَطْهِيرِكَ وَتَقَبَّلْ صَلاتِي وَدُعائِي بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنٍ وَطَيِّبْ بَقِيَّةَ حياتِي وَطَيِّبْ وَفاتِي وَاخْلُفْنِي فِيمَنْ أَخْلُفُ وَاحْفَظْنِي يا رَبِّ بِدُعائِي،
Purify me with Your purification, accept my prayer and supplication in the best manner, make the rest of my life good, make my demise good, be the supervisor of my inheritors, safeguard me, O my Lord, through my supplication,
وَاجْعَلْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً تَحُوطُها بِحياطَتِكَ بِكُلِّ ما حُطْتَ بِهِ ذُرِّيَّةَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَوْليائِكَ وَأَهْلِ طاعَتِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
and make my offspring goodly by encompassing them with the same things with which You have encompassed the offspring of Your intimate saints and the people who obeyed You appropriately, out of Your mercy, O most merciful of all those who show mercy.
يا مَنْ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ رَقِيبٌ وَلِكُلِّ داعٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ مُجِيبٌ وَمِنْ كُلِّ سائِلٍ قَرِيبٌ،
O You Who observes all things, Who answers all those who supplicate to You amongst Your creatures, and Who is close to all those who implore You!
أَسْأَلُكَ يا لا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ الحَيُّ القَيُّومُ الأحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدُ وَلَمْ يُولَدُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفْواً أَحَدٌ،
I thus implore You, O He save Whom there is no god, O He Who is Ever-living, Self-Subsisting, One and Only, Absolute, You beget not nor are You begotten and there is none like unto You.
وَبِكُلِّ اسْمٍ رَفَعْتَ بِهِ سَماءَكَ وَفَرَشْتَ بِهِ أَرْضَكَ وَ أَرْسَيْتَ بِهِ الجِبالَ وَأَجْرَيْتَ بِهِ الماءَ وَسَخَّرْتَ بِهِ السَّحابَ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ وَاللَيْلَ وَالنَّهارَ وَخَلَقْتَ الخَلائِقَ كُلَّها،
And I implore You by all Names with which You raised Your heavens, spread out Your earth, firmly fixed the mountains, made water flow, made the clouds subservient, as well as the sun, the moon, the stars, the night, and the daylight, and created all beings.
أَسْأَلُكَ بِعَظَمَةِ وَجْهِكَ العَظِيمِ الَّذِي أَشْرَقَتْ لَهُ السَّماواتُ وَالأرْضُ فَأَضاءَتْ بِهِ الظُّلُماتُ،
I implore You by the magnitude of Your Magnificent Face to which the heavens and the earth shone causing darkness to change into lights,
إِلاّ صَلَّيْتَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَكَفَيْتَنِي أَمْرَ مَعاشِي وَمَعادِي،
وَأَصْلَحْتَ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ وَلَمْ تَكِلْنِي إِلى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلَحْتَ أَمْرِي وَأَمرَ عِيالِي وَكَفَيْتَنِي هَمَّهُمْ وَأَغْنَيْتَنِي وَإياهُمْ مِنْ كَنْزِكَ وَخَزائِنِكَ وَسَعَةِ فَضْلِكَ الَّذِي لا يَنْفَدُ أَبَداً،
amend all my affairs, not to cause me to depend upon myself for even a winking of an eye, manage the affairs of my household and me, save me from their concerns, make them and me rich out of Your treasure, hoards, and Your expansive grace that never runs out,
وَأَثْبِتْ فِي قَلْبِي يَنابِيعَ الحِكْمَةِ الَّتِي تَنْفَعُنِي بِها وَتَنْفَعُ بِها مَنِ ارْتَضَيْتَ مِنْ عِبادِكَ،
fix in my heart founts of sagacity from which I may benefit and from which You may benefit Your servants with whom You are pleased,
وَاجْعَلْ لِي مِنَ المُتَّقِينَ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمانِ إِماماً كَما جَعَلْتَ إِبْراهِيمَ الخَلِيلَ إِماماً فَإِنَّ بِتوْفِيقِكَ يَفُوزُ الفائِزُونَ وَيَتُوبُ التَّائِبُونَ وَيَعْبُدُكَ العابِدُونَ،
choose for me an imam (i.e. leader) that is pious in the last of time in the same way as You made Abraham Your intimate friend to be a leader. Verily, only through Your guidance do the winners achieve prosperity, the repentant declare repentance, and the true worshippers worship You.
وَبِتَسْدِيدِكَ يَصْلُحُ الصّالِحُونَ المُحْسِنُونَ المُخْبِتُونَ العابِدُونَ لَكَ الخائِفُونَ مِنْكَ،
And only through Your supervision do the righteous, the good-doers, those who humble themselves before You, those who worship You sincerely, and those who fear You become righteous.
وَبِإِرْشادِكَ نَجا النَّاجُونَ مِنْ نارِكَ وَأَشْفَقَ مِنْها المُشْفِقُونَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ،
And only through Your direction will those who will be delivered from Your Hellfire be saved and those who fear You, from amongst Your creatures, stand in awe of it.
وَبِخُذْلانِكَ خَسِرَ المُبْطِلُونَ وَهَلَكَ الظَّالِمُونَ وَغَفَلَ الغافِلُونَ،
But through Your disappointing them will the wrong lose, the unjust perish, and those distracted from You be inattentive.
اللهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْواها فَأَنْتَ وَلِيُّها وَمَوْلاها وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكّاها،
O Allah, grant my soul its piety for You are its guardian and master and You are the best to purify it.
اللهُمَّ بَيِّنْ لَها هُداها وَأَلْهِمْها تَقْواها وَبَشِّرْها بِرَحْمَتِكَ حِينَ تَتَوَفَّاها وَنَزِّلْها مِنَ الجِنانِ عُلياها وَطَيِّبْ وَفاتَها وَمَحياها وَأَكْرِمْ مُنْقَلَبَها وَمَثْواها وَمُسْتَقَرَّها وَمَأْواها فَأَنْتَ وَلِيُّها وَمَوْلاها.
O Allah, show it its true guidance, inspire it with what is good for it, carry to it the good news of Your mercy when You grasp it, lodge it in the highest positions of the gardens of Paradise, make good its death and life, and honor its place and abode and its dwelling and house, for You are its guardian and master.
